music-wise, I think its important for a piece of music to achieve certain acoustic qualities. I am not trying to say that you should imitate the sound of acoustic instruments, the aim is much rather the infinite complexity of natural sounds. this means that a track shouldnt sound analogue, digital, electronic or whatever else, but that you thoroughly explore all the potential of its production method to reach the desired aim.
